Role and Responsibilities

  • Samsung Austin Semiconductor is hiring a talented and motivated individual for a Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer Shift TR position. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, driven, data oriented, and has excellent communication and leadership skills. The team requires frequent adaptation to factory priorities, so you will need to be flexible. Flexibility includes ability to work on any shift.

  • Current hiring shift is C, however, the ideal candidate will be open to working any shift A, B, C, D after initial training is complete. Mandatory shift rotations are every 6 months.

  • This Engineering TR role will use extensive knowledge of Samsung specific scheduling and reporting systems as well as Manufacturing knowledge to improve factory bottlenecks as well as perform general troubleshooting tasks and testing related to these systems. As a Manufacturing Systems Engineer, you will work closely with manufacturing, systems and unit part members to find inefficiencies, test/monitor/troubleshoot system change points, and make system enhancement requests to improve systems.

  • Additional requirements include general engineering, problem solving, coordination of tasks, teamwork, and expert data collection and analysis.

  • Provide direction for team members with clear communication about fab priorities.

  • Develop and train team members to become well-rounded systems experts.

  • Effectively communicate status, timelines, and critical issues to all levels of the organization including during passdown at the beginning and end of each shift.

  • Pinpoint bottleneck areas and take actions to help improve line movement and line balance.

  • Review equipment efficiency and take action to make improvements.

  • Coordinate with manufacturing and engineering groups to make WPD improvements using available scheduling systems as well as analyze actual improvements seen.

  • Evaluate queue times for loading opportunities and analyze break trends to identify and address root causes.

  • Work with customers and project integration team on system enhancement requests and create well defined documentation for these requests.

  • Collaborate with systems engineering members on systems-related issues and follow-up on issues from other shifts to resolution.

  • Organize testing and verification of new system changes with system engineers, unit parts and project integration members.

  • Develop standard operating procedures and assist in implementation.

  • Identify areas of improvement and drive solutions within manufacturing and systems.

  • Participate in resolution of urgent production issues as they occur.

Skills and Qualifications

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and other related Engineering Major.

  • Self-motivated and strong at motivating others.

  • Knowledge of Line Metrics – Idle Time, TAT, Queue Times, Capacity.

  • Experience with Fab automation and reporting systems (Workplace, DSS, RTPMS, GPM, Peals, Simax OI, TPSS, MARS Prime, Spotfire).

  • Good communication skills with internal and external customers.

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to assess situations and set priorities.

  • Strong problem solving ability.

  • Strong critical thinking skills; Ability to recognize third and fourth order effects of a catalyst event.

  • Experience with SQL a plus.

  • Skilled in MS Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Flexible, Adaptable and team oriented.

  • 1-5 years experience with Automated Manufacturing or Semiconductor FAB.
