The Utility Engagement and Energy Operations Manager is responsible for managing SAS’s utility supply contracts, engaging in renewable VPPA agreements, driving onsite energy efficiency programs, and tracking environmental attributes.

The ideal candidate is passionate about sustainability, has a firm understanding of the wholesale power market, utility regulation, and has a proven track record of managing a portfolio of renewable energy contracts.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Successfully negotiate new tariff rates, power purchase agreements and/or energy infrastructure contracts in regulated and open markets for electric, natural gas, and water utilities.

  • Develop automated tools to track and manage utility expense, PPA performance, and other utility related KPI.

  • Review energy projects, technical designs and contracts with utilities and contractors.

  • Identify, develop and execute energy projects, programs, and initiatives to achieve site goals while developing and reporting KPIs to drive onsite energy efficiency continuous improvement.

  • Interact with Samsung Austin Semiconductors parent companies and affiliates to assure alignment with global energy strategies and commitments.

  • Analyze and interpret energy generation data including virtual PPAs, green tariffs, and wholesale energy market data.

  • Build and manage compliance programs for energy portfolios.

  • Plan, schedule, and track multiple simultaneous project timelines and milestones.

  • Develop relationships with key industry stakeholders such as utilities, renewable project developers, the EPA, and regional power planning agencies.

  • Manage portions of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) reporting. Highlighting our achievements.

  • Create recommendations and gain support with the executive team for sustainability efforts.

  • Coordinate resources and expertise across departments and serve as project lead for sustainability improvement projects, for both existing assets and new development projects.

  • Represent SAS to key stakeholders, external and internal, to communicate SAS’s policies and stance on sustainability topics, serving as point of contact and knowledge center.

  • Workdays & Hours: M-F 1st Shift.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) Energy/Engineering/Business/Technology/Information Systems or similar field.

  • 7+ years of experience in energy/electric utilities – compliance, regulatory, asset/contract management, operations.

  • 3+ years of experience in program or project management role successfully managing transactions - supplier management, contract management, or managing commercial relationships with vendors or customers.

  • 3+ years of experience with renewable energy power purchase agreements and utility scale renewable project development.

  • The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to create structure in a dynamic and ambiguous corporate environment.

  • Ability to simplify complex issues to increase understanding.

  • A passion for sustainability is required.

  • Experience with environmental attribute programs, green tariffs, utility scale renewable project development and systems.
