L3Harris Mechanical Designer in Burlington, Ontario

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for mechanical design and support of complex optomechanical and electromechanical products from concept through to production using modern CAD and analysis tools.

  • Generation of drawings and bills of materials for assigned design.

  • Able complete assignment of moderate scope and complexity, usually minor parts of larger projects.

  • Uses a variety of standard engineering methods and defined best practices in solving problems and executing tasks.

  • May assist more senior staff in carrying out technical tasks.

  • May contribute to definition of departmental best practices of a clearly defined scope.

  • Duties or tasks are assigned with defined timelines. Technical guidance is available as required. Results are reviewed on a regular basis.

  • May give technical or project related guidance to more junior staff. Occasionally provides guidance to more junior staff on standard methods and procedures.

  • Participate in design reviews as either a presenter or a reviewer.

  • Supporting the verification and validation of new product designs.

  • Keep in synchronization with mechanical industry trends and new technologies that may be relevant to L3 Wescam’s present and future product development.

  • May involve the design of cabling wire harnesses including developing solutions with electrical engineers, physical routing definition, final drawing generation, and then verification of design in production.
