Job Description:

Discovery Tools Consultant Systems Engineer

The engineer is responsible for maintenance and upgrades and integration. The engineer will also interface with technical specialists to validate/update data quality to resolve issues with discovered software products and versions. In addition, the engineer will work closely with the Software Asset Configuration Management Process Team in support of the ITSM program.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing discoveries and troubleshooting access issues to systems for discovery.

  • Performing updates and upgrades to the Discovery tools.

  • Coordinating discovery efforts across multiple regions.

  • Ensuring all organizational policies and procedures are followed for all process and application improvement efforts.

  • Working directly with Data Stewards across IT regions and domains to coordinate scans and remediate issues.

  • Working with ITSM program office to ensure data gathered is consistent with overall program requirements.

Required Job Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an advanced engineering role within a large global company

  • Minimum of 3 years of significant experience in automation scripting (Perl, PowerShell, Python)

  • Experience with BMC Discovery

  • Ability to read and comprehend Java code

  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)

Desired Job Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems (or related field), or equivalent experience

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work with multiple groups to gather business requirements for scans.

  • Strong analytical, multitasking and prioritization skills

  • Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic, business environment

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence individuals in all regions of the organization

LOB Job Profile:

Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.
