Nationwide Children's Hospital Laboratory Technician - Child Lab (Murray) in Columbus, Ohio

Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm
with rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call
We are seeking a Lab Technician - The Lab Technician provides customer service to physicians, nurses, families, clients and any facility utilizing laboratory services. The Client Service Representative communicates critical, alert and other lab results/clarifications to the responsible party. Responsibilities include: Acts as a resource for customers regarding Laboratory services, Documents client communications and concerns using the customer relationship management system, Communicates critical, alert and other lab values to the responsible party, Coordinates courier transportation of laboratory samples, Processes supply requests and maintains supply inventory.

What Will You Be Doing?
Reports results accurately and timely according to protocol.
Coordinates couriers for transport of specimens and supplies from physician offices, Hospital labs and other Clients.
Performs accurate and timely generation of laboratory report mailings
Verifies quality assurance standards for all reporting/clerical processes, including final reports and transmission of reports to the ordering physicians and institutions
Prepares test requisitions, supplies and collection kits.
Utilizes CRM for client request/ concerns, supply requests, specimen tracking and courier assignments.
Assumes primary responsibility for phone communication and customer service support for the laboratory
Communicates Client concerns or change of services by documenting this information in CRM and/or by contacting the appropriate account rep/ manager. (Measured – CRM)
What Are We Looking For?
To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess these minimum qualifications and experience:
Associate’s degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
Prefer American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certified
Familiarity with personal computers and word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Ability to work independently under general supervision. Effective interpersonal skills required in interactions with department staff, other CHI/CCRI personnel, physicians, other agencies and institutions, and the public.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand for more than 1 hour at a time, sit for more than 1 hour at a time.
Good visual and auditory acuity.
Full use of hands and arms.
Ability to speak clearly.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
