We are currently seeking an exceptional research practitioner to lead a program of social and behavioral science focused on improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and fairness of federal- and DoD-level security, suitability, and credentialing (SSC), reliability, counter-insider threat, and other risk management programs. This individual will need to be equal parts social and behavioral scientist, personnel security professional, and program manager. They will oversee multiple concurrent projects with various methodologies (e.g., in-depth interviews, surveys, experiments, secondary data analysis, meta-analyses), audiences (human resource management, security, and intelligence communities) and evidence-based interventions that generate behavior change through both online and offline engagements (e.g., print collateral, targeted social media campaigns and online advertising, interactive games, videos, digital graphics).
Applying social and behavioral science (SBS) methods to conduct operational research and development efforts in personnel security, suitability, and credentialing.
Defining a long-term program of research focused on workplace safety and security that fosters a safe, trusted, and productive population of military, civilian, and industrial employees.
Developing innovative, equitable, and timely systems, tools, trainings, and job aids for policymakers and practitioners in human resource management, security, and intelligence communities as well as the workforce at large.
Communicating work broadly through presentations, speaking engagements, and other professional networking activities.
Building relationships with business partners, research partners, and other professional associates to support current and future work.
Staying professionally active and leading the development of new client and organizational capabilities.
Managing and supporting a division of multiple teams, including setting goals, cultivating a productive, growth-oriented work environment, and team development via coaching, mentoring and on-the-job training.
Providing exceptional quality, risk, and financial control across a variety of projects.
MA (PhD preferred) in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, statistics, or related field.
A minimum of 10 years leading social & behavioral scientific research projects and managing research personnel and minimum of 15 years overall experience in applied research settings.
Experience in and be knowledgeable about personnel security, suitability, and credentialing processes to include understanding of background investigation and adjudication procedures
Experience applying behavior change and social science theory to employer recruiting, brand development or marketing and communication.
Military- or intelligence-related research experience required.
Prior publications in peer-reviewed journals on insider threat analysis and related fields preferred, but not required.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-performing research teams.
Applicants must possess a current and active Secret clearance or higher.
Applicants must either currently live within commuting distance of or being willing to relocate within commuting distance of Monterey, CA
