Overview:The Oracle Applications Developer III is responsible for Oracle EBS Applications core competencies – Financials and Supply Chain Management development processes and leading the Core Business Systems Development team in design, development, and testing using SDLC methodology. This includes oversight and management of projects and tasks impacting the team.The person in this position will work with end users, as well as technical and functional team members to accomplish the design, coding, testing, and implementation of new applications to satisfy business needs.The purpose of the position is to support Boar’s Head critical business applications with a primary focus on the design and build phase of the SDLC.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Core Development Activities

  • Leads and develops applications and services processes according to technical design documentation, including form extensions, custom PL/SQL for application integrations, data fixes in coordination with Oracle customer support, and in general any in-flow or out-flow of data from the core business systems.

  • Troubleshoots application problems and works with inside and outside resources including Oracle Customer Support as necessary to resolve them.

  • Leads the development of technical design documentation within the SDLC process.

  • Development and programing that includes form extensions & personalization, custom PL/SQL for application integrations and interfaces, data fixes, workflow customizations, building concurrent programs, user interfaces using OAF/ADF , SQL, XML publisher, XML, Unix shell scripts, SOA web services. Development of RICEW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Extensions and Workflows) objects in E-Business Suite. Develop backend interfaces to integrate Oracle EBS with legacy systems like Genesys ERP, Ross/iRen ERP, Forte picking engine

  • Work in two Oracle EBS modules at a time that include Oracle Process Manufacturing, Inventory, Financials, Orde2Cash, Warehouse Management (WMS), and Enterprise Assets Management (EAM) etc.

  • Uses appropriate tools to streamline development and support of applications and services.

  • Leads in the implementation of Oracle application security standards with adherence to security best practices and BHP security strategy.

  • Leads the coordination of production release activities such as code migrations as necessary to support business requirements and operations schedules.

  • Leads the development of written test plans to ensure highest quality work.

  • Review and diagnose other developer’s code to solve production problems.

  • Analyze high level business requirements and design strategic solutions for business problems.

  • Work with functional leaders to define processes and then translate same into automated solutions in the Oracle EBS system, using existing functionality where possible.

  • Leads the team in troubleshooting application problems and working with inside and outside resources including Oracle Customer Support as necessary to resolve them.

  • Prepare technical design documentation for implementation of system requirements.

  • Work with functional team to implement system specifications.

  • Conduct system and unit testing to ensure enhancements, patches and fixes, and product updates work to specification and work properly with documented test results.

  • Recommend enhancements to the Oracle application to improve the systems integrity, ease of use, and to increase productivity as appropriate.

  • Work with other Technical team members to assist in all aspects of application development and support as required.

  • Work with Oracle support and get the problem communicated properly and get the solution extracted on the vanilla delivered bugs.

  • Identifies appropriate off-the-shelf and/or open source software packages for IT process improvements.

  • Serves as the key internal knowledge expert for Oracle Applications Developers.

  • Ensures appropriate tools are in place to streamline development of Oracle Applications and web services.

  • Oversees application architecture recommendations; designs, builds and implements strategically.

  • Responsible for documenting current state and future state architecture diagrams in support of applications architecture strategy.

    Process and Working Practices

  • Using SDLC methodology, manages the day to day activities of the Core Business Systems Development team including the design, development, testing, debugging, and supporting custom Oracle applications and web services.

  • Leads the creation and enforcement of Core Business Systems development operational procedures.

  • Follows Core Business Systems Development operational procedures.

  • Acts as a mentor/coach to lower level application developers and system support analysts (Tier II); providing assistance to less experienced team members on production support issues and project tasks.

  • Provides coaching and mentoring to the Core Business Systems team to ensure best practices and standards are followed and team members continue to grow in their knowledge of Oracle Applications development and associated technologies.

  • Prepare weekly timesheets and status reports to management in addition to maintaining a work task list ensuring deliverables are met as scheduled and committed.

  • Provide on call rotational support of critical business applications as scheduled and required in a professional and business-like manner.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced constantly evolving workplace.

  • Demonstrate ability aptitude in logical and analytical thinking, as well as display strong problem solving skills with experience in using diagnostic tools.

  • Learn and continue to gain business operations knowledge.

  • Communicate product readiness, level of quality, and results to project team members.

  • Effectively communicates complex business and technical information to various audience levels including senior management, business community and staff members.

  • Meets project deadlines and focuses on a task until it is complete by managing personal workload.

  • Manages / Leads multiple projects at a time.

  • Monitors workload of Core Business Systems development team including IT service desk tickets assigned to the team to ensure projects are progressing according to schedule and tickets are addressed in a timely manner. Ensures management is fully aware of schedule or resource issues in a timely manner.

  • Meets project deadlines and focuses on a task until it is complete by managing personal workload. Proficiency in working on more than one project at a time. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced constantly evolving workplace.

  • Other project and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, equivalent experience, or degree in similar field required. Master’s degree desired.

  • Must have a minimum of 10+ year’s relevant experience in Oracle Applications development

  • 10+​year’s hands on experience with coding/programming experience that includes form extensions & personalization, custom PL/SQL for application integrations and interfaces, data fixes, workflow customizations, building concurrent programs, user interfaces using OAF, SQL, XML publisher reports, XML, Unix shell scripts, SOA web services, HTML protocols

  • Oracle EBS functional knowledge in at least two oracle EBS modules in at least two Oracle ERP R12 modules such as Financials, Inventory, Order Management, Orde2Cash, Warehouse Management (WMS), and/or Process Manufacturing (OPM), Enterprise Asses Management (EAM) to be able to create test cases for unit testing

  • Thorough knowledge in Oracle EBS tables and internal APIs

  • Experience working in Toad, SVN source control, Visio

  • Experience working in a fast paced, cross-functional and multi-team environment.

  • Working knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC); hands on experience with Waterfall and Agile development methodologies.

  • Advantages:

  • Implementation experience of Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM)

  • Experience on developing/customizing Oracle Applications Framework (ADF).

  • Experience with development using Oracle SOA/Middleware/BPEL Suite

  • Experience in development and scripting using MySQL, SQL Server
