Bristol Myers Squibb Senior Scientist, Translational Research Immunology in Seattle, Washington
At Bristol Myers Squibb, we are inspired by a single vision – transforming patients’ lives through science. In oncology, hematology, immunology and cardiovascular disease – and one of the most diverse and promising pipelines in the industry – each of our passionate colleagues contribute to innovations that drive meaningful change. We bring a human touch to every treatment we pioneer. Join us and make a difference.
The Immuno-Oncology and Cellular Therapy Thematic Research Center is one of the fundamental research and early development engines delivering therapeutics to patients. Our mission is to drive leadership in the use biotherapeutics and engineered cell-based therapies to harness the power of immune cells to mediate anti-tumor activity in hematological and solid cancers. Our thematic focus allows the group to capitalize on the cutting-edge science that underpins the action of many of the company’s most innovative therapeutics, without being constrained by drug modality or disease indication.
The Immuno-Oncology and Cellular Therapy Translational Research team is looking for a creative and driven immunologist to help advance our portfolio of biotherapeutics and cell therapies that have entered early clinical trials. Key responsibilities of this role are to assess the pre-clinical efficacy of potential combination therapies, provide biologic insight into the mechanisms of efficacy or resistance/relapse of our therapies, and identify new indications for our clinical stage assets. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in myeloid, natural killer, and/or T cell immunology and a proven history of implementation of a broad range of immunological and molecular assays using human and tumor cells. The successful candidate must be able to design, execute, and analyze independent experimental plans using cutting-edge technologies for assessing the activity of our immuno-oncology portfolio. The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written scientific communication skills with a strong publication track record.
Design and execute preclinical research strategies to evaluate the efficacy and mechanism of action of immuno-oncology drug candidates alone and in combination using primary cell cultures and patient samples
Critically analyze, interpret, and report experimental results; draw appropriate conclusions and design next steps
Present results and strategies within the department, externally, and to internal governance committees as required.
Provide subject matter expertise in immunology and immuno-oncology to internal project teams and committees as scientific functional lead

Documented expertise in one or more innate immune cell types strongly preferred
Demonstrated independence in experimental design and execution, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of in vitro / ex vivo analysis of immune responses
Proficiency with multiple cutting edge technologies to assess immune cell function including, but not limited to, myeloid cell functional assays (e.g. phagocytosis) , NK and T cell activation assays, cytotoxicity assays, multi-parameter flow cytometry, spectral flow cytometry, CITE-Seq, CyTOF, IncuCyte, and/or imaging technologies
Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and implement creative solutions
Excellent scientific communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated in a team environment
Ability to prioritize tasks among multiple work streams, independently organize time, and plan specifics of work efficiently
Proven scientific/project leadership expertise (working in teams, managing collaborations, people/projects)
