What you'll be doing...
You'll be working on a team to develop a distributed Observability platform to deliver operational & product usage data in the Tableau cloud to sustain the highest level of customer experience. The platform sits at the core of Cloud Engineering and has very high visibility in the Tableau organization. The platform needs to be scalable, highly performant, and real-time to cater to various Tableau services. The Kafka & Flink based Observability platform currently processes 45 billion events per day and needs to expand further to support Tableau business growth.
Some of the things you'll be doing are:
Architect and design platform & micro-services to adapt to changing business requirements quickly.
Learn and maintain team-wide architectural vision, standards, and constraints. Develop technology roadmaps and code to realize the vision.
Full-stack development from application backend through business requirements and UI for customer experience.
Support management team with prioritization and planning activities by providing technical insight into upcoming and ongoing releases.
Mentoring senior developers and other technology peers.
Collaborating across a geographically distributed set of teams.
Who you are…
Experienced. 6+ years of experience in software engineering
Highly-technical. You have very strong coding and debugging skills and a deep understanding of distributed services, such as query processing, storage, performance optimization, data extraction, etc. You’re fluent in Java and knowledgeable in C++. You know from experience what it takes to deliver truly distributed services in the cloud, get it running at scale and sustain it in the long term.
Flexible. While it’s true that you know your stuff inside and out, you aren't afraid to learn new areas and stretch yourself to handle whatever need arises.
A True Team Player. You enjoy collaborating, learning from or teaching others so we can all become better developers. People love working with you because you help them up their game.
A Problem Solver. You have a passion for solving complex problems at work or otherwise.
