Munson Medical Center Content Marketing Specialist in Traverse City, Michigan


The Content Marketing Specialist provides content expertise to key stakeholders and internal project teams in the execution of innovative and creative marketing communication plans that deliver results for key organizational goals. This position communicates effectively with others, listens actively to accurately assess needs, gathers information from sources at all levels, and delivers high-quality, engaging content.


Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, journalism, English, public relations, or related field, with a minimum of four years’ copywriting experience. They should also have experience developing and implementing content for various digital and traditional communications platforms such as e-newsletters, publication, blogs, social media, and video. Healthcare experience or experience in a highly matrixed environment is preferred.

Our ideal candidate is a life-longer learner who is self-directed, with demonstrated ability to work independently, using excellent judgment and analytical thinking. Superior time management skills required.

This new team member should have a demonstrated ability to successfully deal with competing priorities, heavy workloads, and a rapidly changing environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint 0365, and e-newsletter/digital communication platforms is preferred.

This position reports to the Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications, and works closely with all members of the Marketing and Corporate Communications team, along with departments across the health care system.

  • Promotes personal and patient safety.

  • Supports the internal publication process for Munson Healthcare by:

  • Managing content from inception to publication.

  • Collaborating on the development of editorial line-ups and ensuring consistency and connection with story angles .

  • Managing publication deadlines with all content contributors.

  • Editing content for voice and style.

  • Publishing content on multiple platforms, including e-newsletter, social media, and SharePoint 0365 platforms.

  • Interacting on a regular basis with members of the MHC Executive Team, System Senior Leadership Team, and department strategy team to ensure that content aligns with health system and hospital goals and objectives.

    • Partners with the Digital Marketing Specialist on digital communications platform strategy and content plan, ensuring content is aligned, up-to-date and timely.
  • Works cooperatively within the department and other areas to facilitate communications, problem solve and plan communication activities.

    • Provides expertise in development and evolution of the health system voice.

    • Maintains awareness of and monitors compliance with corporate identity standards.

    • Carries out special projects with minimal direction, as assigned.
