The EY UK Internal Audit function (EYIA) is headed up by an Associate Partner and supported by a team of highly motivated professionals. We provide unbiased, impartial assurance and consulting activities to help support the firms’ governance, risk management and internal control.
We report to the EY UK Risk Oversight Committee (ROC), EY UK LLP Board (Board), and Independent Oversight Committee (IOC) over key policies and procedures, processes and controls, in place to mitigate strategic, operational, compliance and financial risks faced by the UK firm.
We are strengthening our risk management and assurance practices within the UK firm and are seeking a Manager to assist in carrying out our mandate.
Your key responsibilities
Interact with senior EY management to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
Engage with EYIA stakeholders, representing a highly professional and capable internal audit function.
Lead and execute a portfolio of audit projects in conformance with EYIA methodology and professional standards, in all sizes and complexities across EY service line functions.
Lead and coach audit team members to make sound judgments in all aspects of internal audit scoping, planning, delivery, closing meetings, report finalisation and action follow up.
Monitor and manage engagement budgets at a portfolio level
Manage special initiatives such as the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), audit methodology updates, and developing and delivering training and shares insights / leading practices.
Effectively contribute to the on-going development of the EYIA function; teaching, coaching and developing team members in all aspects of audit methodology.
Performance management responsibility for assigned audit portfolio and staff.
Skills and attributes for success
The successful individual must be able to work independently and take responsibility for a profile of complex audits.
Financial process and accounting knowledge
Process mapping, walkthroughs and risk analysis (strategic, financial, operational and compliance)
Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at senior executive level (i.e., UK Firm Managing Partners, Functional Leaders, Service Line Leaders, etc.).
High level ofintegrity, innovation, and commitment to achieving excellence whilst working under pressure.
Effective people management qualities, including coaching and mentoring,in a way that inspires, develops, and delivers results.
Excellent self-awareness when dealing with others, able to adapt own approach based on differences in individual style and backgrounds, recognising the risk of unconscious bias.
Maintain internal audit competency through ongoing professional development
Good project and risk management skills to ensure engagements deliver on time and to budget
Demonstrate business acumen - compile information quickly and accurately, testing data and assumptions
Strong understanding of audit management and data tools (e.g. PowerBI).
Proficient knowledge of common applications (MS Office, etc.).
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
To qualify for the role, you should have
Professional experience working in internal audit in a managerial capacity., including managing teams.
A relevant qualification e.g. IIA, CCAB, CA, ICAEW, or equivalent.
Experience in internal audit including running delivery of plans and initiatives that drive performance at large, complex organisations.
Experience dealing directly with senior management.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Experience of providing clients with advice and input to the business on control and risk issues e.g. controls remediation or enterprise risk management
Deep understanding of a range of business processes, the associated risks and leading practice controls
Track record of testing strategies to assess the design and effectiveness of the controls including development and deployment of data analytics strategies and techniques
Understanding of EY, its service lines and global capabilities.
